The Clippers have acquired 26-year old shooting guard Nick Young from the Wizards in big three team deal that included the Nuggets. The Clippers dealt the Hornets’ 2nd round pick in 2015 and 31-year old power forward Brian Cook to the Wizards to complete their part of this year. The Wizards also sent center JaVale McGee and C/PF Ronny Turiaf to the Nuggets as part of this deal and the Nuggets sent Washington C/PF Nene’ Hilario. Nick Young played in 40 games (32 starts) for the Wizards this year and he averaged 30.3 minutes, 16.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Young has now played in 335 games (102 starts) in his first five years in the NBA and he is averaging 22.9 minutes, 11.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. He will likely push Randy Foye for his starting shooting guard spot.
Brian Cook played in 16 games (0 starts) for the Clippers this year and he averaged 7.6 minutes, 1.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. He was only shooting 22.4% from the floor this year for the Clippers. Cook played in 56 games (0 starts) in his two years with the Clippers and he averaged 10.1 minutes, 4.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. This was an outstanding move for the Clippers as they gave up a second round pick and Brian Cook for a player with a nice upside in Nick Young.
