The Clippers have lost back-up point guard Sebastian Telfair for the next 4-6 weeks due to a strained right groin. Telfair has played in 39 games (1 start) for the Clippers this season and he is averaging 14.9 minutes, 4.3 points, 1.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Mardy Collins will likely pick up Telfair’s minutes at the point. He has played in 22 games (0 starts) for the Clippers this season and he is averaging 8.1 minutes, 1.8 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.5 assists per game. The Clippers have signed 24-year old point guard JamesOn Curry to provide depth at the point but he has never played in a NBA game.

The Los Angeles Clippers lose Kareem Rush for the year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Clippers News, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Wednesday 18 November 2009 at 9:18 am

The Clippers have lost back up guard Kareem Rush for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee. Rush played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Clippers last night and he averaged 8.3 minutes, 1.3 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. The Clippers will likely give Rush’s minutes to Ricky Davis and that is likely a good thing.

The Los Angeles Clippers lose Eric Gordon

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Clippers News, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Tuesday 10 November 2009 at 10:18 pm

The Clippers will be without starting shooting guard Eric Gordon for at least the next 10 days due to a pulled groin. Gordon has played in 7 games (7 starts) for the Clippers this season and he is averaging 38.4 minutes, 18.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Rasual Butler will replace Gordon in the starting lineup until he is ready to return to action. Butler has played in 8 games (4 starts) this season for the Clippers and he is averaging 30.3 minutes, 10.4 points, 3.0 rebouinds and 1.9 assists per game. Losing Gordon will hurt the Clippers in both the starting lineup and the bench with Butler moving into the starting unit.

Blake Griffin will miss the first six weeks of the NBA season

Blogged under Bloglockers, General, Big Clippers News, Rookie Reports, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Tuesday 27 October 2009 at 6:16 am

Rookie power forward Blake Griffin will miss the first six weeks of the NBA season due to a stress fracture in his left kneecap. This is a huge blow to the Clippers who were depending on Griffin to be a force from day #1. Marcus Camby will be put back into the starting lineup until Griffin is ready to return. Craig Smith will also see a bump in playing time as he is a very, very underrated player. If anything were to happen to Camby or starting center Chris Kaman then Smith would finally get a chance to show what he can do as a starter. DeAndre Jordan will also see a increase in playing time as he will now be the #2 center behind Kaman until Griffin is ready to return. He has a nice upside too.

The Clippers have lost second year center Paul Davis for the season due to a torn ACL. Davis played in 22 games this season and he averaged 8.8 minutes, 2.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. Davis should work on his shot as he’s rehabbing as he only hit 36.9% of his shots from the floor and 60% from the free throw line.
