The Los Angeles Clippers lose Eric Gordon again

Blogged under Big Clippers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries,Need to Step Up by admin on Sunday 6 March 2011 at 6:16 pm

The Clippers have lost starting shooting guard Eric Gordon indefinitely due to a bone chip in his wrist.  Gordon had just returned from missing 18 games due to injury.  In his two games back before he was injured again, Gordon averaged 24.5 minutes, 14.5 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.5 assists per game.  He has now played in 43 games (all starts) for the Clippers so far this year and he is averaging 37.2 minutes, 23.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  The Clippers are going to miss Gordon, but Randy Foye proved last month that he’s not chopped liver.  In 14 games in February, Randy Foye averaged 36.8 minutes, 17.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  Foye will replace Gordon in the starting lineup at shooting guard.  Foye has now played in 44 games (18 starts) overall this season for the Clippers and he is averaging 23.1 minutes, 9.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

The Los Angeles Clippers with be without Eric Gordon for a few weeks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries,Need to Step Up by admin on Wednesday 26 January 2011 at 9:06 pm

The Los Angeles Clippers will be without starting shooting guard Eric Gordon for the next 3-4 weeks due to a small bone chip fracture in his right wrist.  Gordon has played in 41 games (all starts) for the Clippers so far  this year and he is averaging 37.8 minutes, 24.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  They are really going to miss Gordon’s offense while he is out of action.  Randy Foye will be replacing Gordon in the starting lineup until he’s ready to return to action.  Foye got his first start of the season last night against the Mavericks and he responded with 15 points, 1 rebound and 4 assists in 28 minutes on the floor.  He has now played in 25 games (1 start) for the Clippers so far this year and he is averaging 13.5 minutes, 4.7 points, 0.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists  per game.  Foye’s first order or business will be to improve his shooting stroke as he is only hitting 33.3% from the floor so far this year.  The Clippers need Foye to step up or teams are going to start packing the paint defensively which will give Blake Griffin’s job a lot harder.

The Los Angeles Clippers lose Craig Smith for a while

Blogged under Big Clippers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by admin on Wednesday 22 December 2010 at 12:14 am

The Los Angeles Clippers will be without backup forward Craig Smith for at least the next two weeks due to a herniated disk in his back.  Smith has played in 24 games (0 starts) for the Clippers so far this year and he is averaging 13.8 minutes, 5.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.  Smith is shooting 58.3% from the floor as he has really played well behind Blake Griffin so far this year.

The Los Angeles Clippers lose Brian Cook for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by admin on Sunday 19 December 2010 at 3:57 am

The Clippers will be without 30-year old backup forward Brian Cook for a week due to a sprained ankle.  That’s a shame as Cook was finally getting into the rotation.  Cook has played in 19 games (0 starts) so far this year for the Clippers and he is averaging 13.5 minutes, 6.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  Cook is shooting 44.7% from three point range this year and that’s what the Clippers are going to miss most about him while he’s out of action.

UPDATE:  (12/21/2010) – Cook is going to now miss about three weeks due to this injury.

Chris Kaman re-injures himself and he’s going to miss some time for the Los Angeles Clippers

Blogged under Big Clippers News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by admin on Saturday 11 December 2010 at 7:25 pm

Starting center Chris Kaman was brought back too soon and he has re-injured himself.  He will miss a minimum of the next three weeks due to a aggravation to a bone bruise and he has a sprained right ankle.  Kaman has played in 10 games (8 starts) for the Clippers so far this year and he is averaging 26.5 minutes, 10.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game.  The Clippers are going to need DeAndre Jordan to step up. Jordan has played in 23 games (14 starts) for the Clippers so far this year and he is averaging 20.2 minutes, 5.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game.  Jordan is shooting 63.8% from the floor but only 42.1% from the free throw line so far this year.  Most of his shots come on putbacks and dunks.  The Clippers better give Kaman time to heal this time around because they are going to miss his all around game in the middle.

Luckily, the Clippers drafted Eric Bledsoe last June. Bledsoe has played in 10 games (7 starts) for the Clippers so far this year and he is averaging 29.7 minutes, 9.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.0 steal per game. The Clippers need Bledsoe to keep up the good work while Davis is out of action.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Tuesday 2 November 2010 at 7:13 pm

Foye has played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Clippers so far this year and he is averaging 24.0 minutes, 6.0 points, 1.0 rebound and 3.0 assists per game. Look for rookie Eric Bledsoe and veteran Rasual Butler to pick up some extra P.T. until Foye is ready to return to action.
