The Los Angeles Clippers fire head coach Kim Hughes

The Clippers have fired head coach Kim Hughes. The Clippers were 8-25 (.242) under Hughes and that is pathetic. The Clippers should have just kept Coach Dunleavy on board until the end of the year. But, hindsight is always 20/20. Hopefully the next coach the Clippers bring in will be a good one.

The Los Angeles Clippers hope that Blake Griffin will be ready for next season

21-year old power forward Blake Griffin did not play one minute as a rookie because of a fractured kneecap. The Clippers probably traded Marcus Camby not only to save money but to alleviate the headache they would have had next fall when they had to decide between him or Griffin to start at PF. Griffin in 6’10″, 251 pounds and he has the potential to be a much better scorer than Camby going forward. The Clippers really need him to be healthy all year long next year if they are going to improve to the point where they can make a playoff run.

Since coming over in the Marcus Camby trade with the Blazers, Blake has played decent basketball. Blake has played in 25 games (7 starts) for the Clippers this season and he is averaging 24.6 minutes, 6.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. He is shooting 42% from the floor with the Clippers but 42.3% from three point range. He is doing a solid job of giving Baron Davis a breather whenever he needs one.
