The Los Angeles Clippers acquire Bobby Brown from the Hornets

The Clippers have acquired 25-year old PG/SG Bobby Brown from the Hornets for a conditional 2nd round pick. I really like this move for the Clippers as Brown will back up Baron Davis at the point until Sebastian Telfair is ready to return to action. Brown played in 22 games (0 starts) for the Hornets last season and he was averaging 14.9 minutes, 6.6 points, 0.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Brown has now played in 90 games (2 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 14.0 minutes, 5.6 points, 0.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

Baron Davis is playing great basketball for the Los Angeles Clippers

Veteran point guard Baron Davis is one of the reasons the Clippers are better than usual this season. He has played in 42 games (41 starts) this season and he is averaging 34.2 minutes, 16.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game. The Clippers need Davis to stay healthy as he has been outstanding in keeping everyone involved in the offense.

The Los Angeles Clippers lose Sebastian Telfair

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Clippers News, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Saturday 23 January 2010 at 10:47 am

The Clippers have lost back-up point guard Sebastian Telfair for the next 4-6 weeks due to a strained right groin. Telfair has played in 39 games (1 start) for the Clippers this season and he is averaging 14.9 minutes, 4.3 points, 1.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Mardy Collins will likely pick up Telfair’s minutes at the point. He has played in 22 games (0 starts) for the Clippers this season and he is averaging 8.1 minutes, 1.8 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.5 assists per game. The Clippers have signed 24-year old point guard JamesOn Curry to provide depth at the point but he has never played in a NBA game.

DeAndre Jordan is stepping up lately for the Los Angeles Clippers

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 20 January 2010 at 9:14 am

21-year old center DeAndre Jordan has stepped up lately with Chris Kaman missing a few games. In his last 5 games, Jordan is averaging 23.8 minutes, 9.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots per game. Overall this season, Jordan has played in 30 games (5 starts) in which he is averaging 12.3 minutes, 3.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. He is shooting 65.3% from the floor but only 36.7% from the free throw line so Jordan has something to work on. But, he is showing signs of being a pretty good basketball player and that make the Clippers happy.

Eric Piatkowski played long enough to get into the record books for the Los Angeles Clippers

I would never consider SG/SF Eric Piatkowski as anything more than a decent bench player with a nice long range shot. He played in 616 games in his career with the Clippers averaging 20.5 minutes, 8.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Piatkowski is #2 all-time in games played in team history (616), #9 in minutes played (12,655), #1 in three pointers made (738) and he is #10 all-time in franchise history in scoring with 5,269 points scored. That fact that Piatkowski is so high on some all-time lists speaks volumes about how the Clippers change direction so often by trading players or letting them go.
