Craig Smith is the forgotten player on the Los Angeles Clippers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Monday 28 December 2009 at 9:32 pm

Back-up forward Craig Smith has a lot of game but the Clippers aren’t letting him have the needed time to show it. Smith has played in 29 games (0 starts) for the Clippers this season and he is averaging 13.9 minutes, 5.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Craig Smith is shooting 57.3% from the floor this season as he has a nice touch around the basket. If the Clippers are making a playoff run they might consider trading Smith to get whatever they might need because his playing time is going to go down even more when Blake Griffin is ready to return from his broken kneecap.

Los Angeles Clippers 92, Boston Celtics 90

Baron Davis hit a big time jumper as time expired to give the Clippers a huge home win last night over the Celtics. The Clippers shot 50.7% from the floor which is pretty darn impressive against a Celtics’ team that is known for defense. Chris Kaman had another monster game with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 1 assist. Baron Davis was outstanding running the offense last night finishing with 24 points, 3 rebounds, 13 assists and 3 steals. Eric Gordon only shot 4 of 13 from the floor but he still finished up with 15 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists last night. The Clippers are now 13-17 on the year.

Phoenix Suns 123, Los Angeles Clippers 93

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,General by alleyoop on Saturday 26 December 2009 at 9:08 am

The Clippers must have forgot that they had a game last night in Arizona. They didn’t play any D as the Suns shot 53.7% from the floor and that is what really hurt them in this game. Rasual Butler got the start at small forward for the Clippers yesterday and he led the way for them with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Chris Kaman had another solid game as usual with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. Baron Davis pitched in with 11 points, 1 rebound and 8 assists last night. The Clippers are now 12-17 on the year.

Houston Rockets 108, Los Angeles Clippers 99

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game recaps,General by alleyoop on Wednesday 23 December 2009 at 7:39 pm

The Clippers shot 50.6% from the floor last night but it just wasn’t good enough to get the job done in Houston. Chris Kaman led the way for the Clippers last night with 29 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocked shots. Baron Davis had a decent game running the offense with 18 points, 2 rebounds and 9 assists. Eric Gordon only shot 6 of 17 from the floor but he still finished up with 15 points, 1 rebound and 3 assists. The Clippers are now 12-16 on the year.

Marcus Camby has been excellent for the Los Angeles Clippers this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 1:14 pm

It will be interesting to see how the Clippers divvy up the minutes when Blake Griffin returns from injury. Marcus Camby is the player most likely to lose minutes but he has really played well so far this year. Camby has played in 27 games (all starts) for the Clippers this season and he is averaging 32.9 minutes, 8.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.2 blocked shots per game. Camby doesn’t deserve to lose minutes but getting Griffin back will make the Clippers’ front line better and deeper.

The Los Angeles Clippers need Baron Davis to shoot less and pass more

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to Step Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 1:09 pm

Baron Davis needs to become more of a pass first point guard due to his shooting woes. Davis is only hitting 39.2% of his shots from the floor and 29.3% of his shots from three point range and that’s why he should be passing more. He has played in 27 games (26 starts) for the Clippers this season and he is averaging 33.7 minutes, 16.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game. The Clippers will be a better team if Davis’ shot selection just gets a little bit better.

Los Angeles Clippers 87, San Antonio Spurs 103

The Los Angeles Clippers (12-15) did some things right against the San Antonio Spurs (15-10), but they could not keep up with the Spurs’ hot shooting.  Chris Kaman was the only Clipper to have a big game, getting 23 points and 15 rebounds.  Rasual Butler was a nice boost off the bench with 18 points, but the Clippers needed more out of their other starters.  Tim Duncan only had 13 points for the Spurs, but they had seven players in double-figures including three off the bench.  Tony Parker led with 19 points on 7-11 shooting.  The Spurs hit 51% of their shots compared to 44% for the Clippers, so the Clippers just couldn’t keep up with the Spurs scoring last night.

The Clippers shot 52.9% from the floor and that helped them hold off the Sixers last night in overtime. Chris Kaman had another monster game with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots. Baron Davis also had a solid game running the offense with 20 points, 2 rebounds and 13 assists. Marcus Camby was a beast inside in this game with 11 points, 22 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocked shots. Rasual Butler (18 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist) and Eric Gordon (17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals) also had solid games for the Clippers who needed a great team effort to win last night. The Clippers are now 12-14 on the year.

Los Angeles Clippers 120, Minnesota Timberwolves 95

The Los Angeles Clippers (11-13) shot lights out Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves (4-22) on their way to a blowout win.  Eric Gordon led the Clippers in scoring with 26 points, but it was a well-rounded scoring effort by the whole team as they shot 52% from the field.  All the starters scored in double-figures.  Rasual Butler had a great game off the bench, and shot very well from behind the arc.  Butler played 26 minutes and had 21 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 blocks while going 5-8 from three.  Kevin Love led the Timberwolves with 19 points and 12 rebounds.  This was an easy win for the Clippers.
