Clippers horrible in the 4th quarter and lose 108-93 to the Warriors at Golden State

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 16 January 2007 at 4:26 pm

This was a pathetic loss as the Clippers were outscored 27-14 in the 4th quarter despite the fact that the Warriors only dressed 8 players! You would think they would wear out, but it looked like the Clippers were running on empty last night. Elton Brand led the way for the Clippers with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Corey Maggette (18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists) and Quinton Ross (16 points and 5 rebounds) played great off the bench but they didn’t get much help.

The Clippers fell to 17-21 on the season with this loss. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270115009

Clippers lose 104-92 to the Cavaliers in Los Angeles

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 14 January 2007 at 2:57 pm

The Clippers forgot to play defense last night as they allowed the Cavs to hit 50% of their shots from the floor. Corey Maggette led the way with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists off the bench. Chris Kaman also had a solid game inside with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Elton Brand pitched in with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists.

Clippers getting o.k. production out of point guards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 13 January 2007 at 11:09 pm

The Clippers thought they would give 3rd year guard Shaun Livingston a starting job this season. He’s just turned 21, but he’s not a pure point guard even though he’s very active. He’s averaging 30.8 minutes, 9.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game so far this season. He’s shoots well from the floor as he’s hit 45.1% of his shots but he’s only 4 of 14 on three pointers.

Sam Cassell now splits time between the point & shooting guard positions. He’s been a little nicked up this season and has only played in 25 games. He is averaging 25.5 minutes, 14.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. Cassell is getting a little old so the Clippers are watching his minutes, but he still has played well when given the chance this season.

Daniel Ewing is the third guy in line for minutes and he doesn’t get many. He’s played in 26 games and has averaged 10.4 minutes, 2.4 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists.

The Clippers are pretty well set at point guard.

Clippers nip the Timberwolves 92-91 in Minnesota

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Thursday 11 January 2007 at 12:22 pm

Every point mattered for the Clippers in this game. Elton Brand led the way with 21 points. Corey Maggette played a great game off the bench with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Sam Cassell started in the backcourt and had a solid game with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

This could be a win that jumpstarts the Clippers season. The Clippers improved to 17-19 on the season with this win. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270110016

Clippers have been a huge disappointment this season

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 9 January 2007 at 6:49 pm

The Clippers had to feel good coming into this season with pretty much the same cast that took the Suns to six games in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. But they have not played well this season and are currently tied for last in the Pacific Division with the Sacramento Kings 10 games out of first place. Part of the problem has been Coach Dunleavy’s frequent changing of the starting line-up. The Clippers have been starting Shaun Livingston at point guard and bringing Sam Cassell off the bench…which doesn’t make alot of sense to me. The point guard is the quarterback of a basketball team, so why wouldn’t you want the ball in Cassell’s hands as often as possible? The bottom line is that the Clippers are too talented of a basketball team to be 16-19 at this point of the season.

Good 4th quarter lifts Clippers to 100-90 victory over the Hornets on the road

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 9 January 2007 at 12:39 am

The Clippers outscored the Hornets 28-17 in the 4th quarter to win this basketball game. Sam Cassell came off the bench and had a monster game with 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Cuttino Mobley (20 points, 5 rebounds) and Elton Brand (18 points, 12 rebounds) backed Cassell up and helped the Clippers win last night.

The Clippers improved to 16-19 on the season with this win. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270108003

Clippers sign guard Luke Jackson

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 8 January 2007 at 10:52 pm

The Clippers have signed former first round pick Luke Jackson. Jackson was playing in the NBA’s D-League for the Idaho Stampede and was averaging 12.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. In two seasons with the Cavs, Jackson played in 46 games and averaged 2.7 points, 1.0 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Jackson came into the NBA with the reputation of being a good shooter, but he only hit 34.8% shots from the floor in Cleveland. Maybe Jackson will play better if the Clippers let him get some decent minutes. He had a hard time getting off the bench for the Cavs in his first two seasons.

Chris Kaman picking up his play

Blogged under Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Sunday 7 January 2007 at 10:56 pm

Early in the season Kaman wasn’t producing like he did last year. That has changed over his last 8 games as he’s averaged 12.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.9 blocks per game. The Clippers need Kaman to keep producing like he has been because the Clippers have an advantage on the boards when Kaman and Brand are playing well.

Clippers give poor effort in 86-74 loss to the Hawks in Atlanta

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 7 January 2007 at 12:55 pm

Except for Elton Brand and Tim Thomas, the Clippers gave no effort last night. Elton Brand had a great game with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Tim Thomas pitched in with 14 points and 6 rebounds.

The Clippers fell to 15-19 on the season with this loss. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270106001

Clippers fall 116-105 to the Wizards in Washington

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 6 January 2007 at 2:54 pm

The Clippers outrebounded the Wizards 51-36, but the Wizards hit 51.6% from the floor and that did the Clippers in. Elton Brand had a great night with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Shaun Livingston had a great game running the offense with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals.
