The Clippers sign Doug Christie to a 10-day contract

Blogged under Big Clippers News,Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 31 January 2007 at 5:00 pm

The Clippers brought Doug Christie in to play defense and shoot 3-point shots off the bench. Christie was limited to only 7 games last season so he should be fresh. He has played in 820 games in his career and has averaged 11.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game. He also has hit 804 of 2,266 three-points shots (35.5%). I think his long-range shooting is the reason he was brought in as Tim Thomas is the only real long-range threat on the Clippers roster.

The Clippers rolled to an 89-56 lead after three quarters and then cruised to an impressive victory last night. They held the Sonics to 32.9% shooting from the floor and outrebounded them 51-41 last night! Elton Brand led the way for the Clippers with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Sam Cassell also had a solid game with 21 points and 7 assists. Chris Kaman only played 24 minutes and he scored 9 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.

The Clippers evened their record at 22-22 with this win. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270128025

The Clippers got smoked 29-18 in the 4th quarter and that’s why they lost this game last night. Can’t blame Elton Brand for the loss as he had 25 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Corey Maggette had a solid game with 19 points and 4 rebounds. Sam Cassell also had a decent game with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Clippers win on last second shot 102-101 over the Nets in Los Angeles

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Friday 26 January 2007 at 10:46 am

The Clippers didn’t play well on defense as they allowed the Nets to hit 50% of their shots from the floor, but Cuttino Mobley bailed them out with a game winning shot with 0.06 seconds left in the game! Elton Brand had a solid game with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Corey Maggette had a good game off the bench with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Cuttino Mobley had a solid all-around game with 17 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.

The Clippers smoke the Bucks 115-96 in Los Angeles

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 24 January 2007 at 12:04 pm

The Clippers shot well from the floor (52.3%) and they outrebounded the Bucks 46-36 last night and those were two of the keys to victory. Elton Brand had a great game with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocked shots. Cuttino Mobley also had a good game with 22 points and 6 rebounds.

The Clippers improved to 20-21 with this win. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270123012

Cuttino Mobley needs to play better

Blogged under Front Page,Need to Step Up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 6:00 pm

Cuttino Mobley has been in a shooting slump as he’s only hit 34% from the floor in his last 5 games. The Clippers need him to play much better than he is if they are going to make a return trip to the playoffs this season. In his last 5 games, Mobley is averaging only 11.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Sam Cassell replaces Shaun Livingston in the starting lineup

Blogged under Big Clippers News,Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 22 January 2007 at 12:23 pm

Shaun Livingston had his chance to be the starting point guard for the Clippers but the offense struggled under his direction. He still is a very talented player that will play alot of minutes off the bench, but the team needed a move to jump start the rest of the season and Sam Cassell will probably give them that. Cassell is averaging 14.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists and he will improve on those numbers as a starter. Livingston averaged 9.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. So he didn’t play poorly but he also didn’t excel the way may thought he would when inserted in the starting lineup. But he has time on his side as he’s still very young. But the Clippers time is now, thus the move back to Cassell.

The Clippers blast the Grizzlies 112-91 in Los Angeles

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 21 January 2007 at 11:09 am

The Clippers hit 51.1% of their shots from the floor and outscored the Grizzlies 63-40 in the second half on their way to victory. Elton Brand had a great game with 34 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Sam Cassell also had a good game running the offense with 21 points, 3 rebounds and 14 assists.

The Clippers improved to 19-21 on the season with this win. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270120012

The Clippers outrun the Warriors 115-109

Blogged under Front Page,Game recaps by Nothing but Net on Thursday 18 January 2007 at 1:14 pm

The Clippers really stuck it to the Warriors who were only playing with 8 players by pushing the pace and that’s why they won this game. Elton Brand had a monster game with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 5 blocked shots. Quinton Ross also had a stat sheet stuffer with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocked shots. Sam Cassell had an awesome game running the offense with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 13 assists. Cuttino Mobley also had a solid game with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Clippers improved to 18-21 on the season with this win. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270117012

Tim Thomas needs to step up

Blogged under Front Page,Need to Step Up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 16 January 2007 at 4:30 pm

The Clippers need Thomas to play better off the bench to support Corey Maggette and Quinton Ross. Thomas has played in 36 games and has averaged 26.2 minutes, 9.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game this season. Thomas has only hit 40.8% from the floor, but he is the best long range shooter on the team. Thomas has hit 35.8% of his three-pointers and has made 71 more of them than any other Clippers player.
