Point Guard
It’s looking as if young Shaun Livingston will be passed the torch from Sam Cassell and be the new starting point guard to start the season. Livingston is very athletic and could be a match-up nightmare for opposing teams as he is 6’7″. Livingston has averaged 25.7 minutes per game, but he has put up numbers. He only has averaged 6.3 points per game, but 4.7 assists as he is a passer first. Livingston also has averaged 3.0 rebounds per game.
If Livingston falters at all, Sam Cassell will be waiting. Cassell led the Clippers further than they have ever been and is a money player. Cassell is a good mid-range shooter that has hit 45.7% of his shots from the field. Cassell has been money from the free-throw line in his career, nailing 85.9% of his shots from the charity stripe. Cassell has averaged 16.3 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game for his 880 game career.
Daniel Ewing didn’t do much as a rookie and will have a hard time getting minutes in the Clippers crowded backcourt. Ewing averaged 3.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists as a rookie.
